putting 2 bikes in 1 truck w/ 8' bed - NEED ADVICE BEFORE NOON TOMORROW!
A friend and I are heading from Richmond to Raleigh tomorrow (3 hours). I have a 04 GMC 1500 extended cab long bed, and I need to fit my F4i and his R6 in the back. It looks like enough room, and I have 6 ratchet straps.
Any advice on how to situate them in there, or how to strap them down specifically?
Thanks in advance!

I put one forward then I roll the other in backwards. I use those canyon dancer bar straps. I have seen people use rear stands and straps those down too. Most of the time I only strap the front down but if I have extra straps I'll strap the rear up too. One strap will need to go through the rear tire of the other bike. Harder to explain then I thought but hopefully you get the picture.
Since you'll have help....
I'd put one bike in 'backwards' rear tire first, front tire at tailgate, and the other in 'forwards'. Since you have an 8 foot bed you can put the forward facing bike all the way in, and the backwards bike towards the tail gate. That way the handlebars will be clear of the other bikes back tire. Then you'll have clear access to the anchor points in the truck.
I'd say put the forward facing one in on the driver side, and the backwards one on the passenger side. That way you may be able to use the kickstand for added support and the bikes will lean away from each other.
So assuming you have the stock anchor point on the bed rails, you can take a 5th strap and go center point to center point across the seats/tanks to help control bounce a little.
Let us know how it goes.
