Default Pulled tank from 02 f4i

Hey guys. just pulled the tank of my 02 f4i to get painted to match my repsol kit. Question is. I looked at the air filter and it was pretty ugly so i ordered a k&n. I have used these on cars before but never on a bike. Noticable improvent? Minor? Gas mileage? Just wanted to see what you guys found to be true. Also. while i have her slightly torn down and have exposure to the top end. You guys recomend me doing anything else. Has about 13k on the odo. Runs great. Sometimes I think I hear what is probably slack in the chain tensioner or something top end on the motor. very minimal. Not really worried about it but any input on that would be great as well.

Cancel your order and get a BMC filter. Only real thing about K&N is that its cleanable but I've also heard from dynos that it will lower your HP apparently. BMC seems to do better.

my buddy gained on his 03 f4i with a k&n not much like 2 hp maybe. but he didnt have any ill effects from it. So for now Im going to go with the K&N - got it for 34 shipped so we will see how it does. If i have any issues then I will surely swap to bmc. But as I said anything else you guys would do while having access up top. Also. Any gains from swapping to 1000rr injectors. There available to me if i want them. Same with the throttle bodies. I figure i would probably have to get it dynoed but just want some insight. Dont really have a good idea of whats interchangable on these bikes.

BMC or K&N are both good filters, the mechanic working on my 02 f4i said he dyno'd a bunch of bikes and airfilters alone don't boost up HP. However, I would still get one as the honda filters are paper and not cleanable either, the K&N do a better job of trapping particles and breathing.

check or change plugs...If you are real bored, check valve clearance...May as well sink the throttle bodies too if you are going to go that far
