Default Problem getting my 600F3 running.

Ok,
I could use some advice here. I replaced the spark plugs and did an oil change on my 98 600F3 this past week. I finally got the bike to start. I've let it run two or three times now and get up to operating temp. However when I run it, I have to keep the choke up or the bike will die. I've already messed with the idle control and it's still doing it. Also if I rev the throttle and hold it around 4 to 5 k, it just pops non stop. The bike sat for about 6 months. I'm sure the gas is bad. I'm going to drain the tank this weekend and put some good gas in it. Any other suggestions? I'm sure the carbs need cleaning, but i'm hoping thats not it. I don't want to have to mess with them right now. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Add a bottle of fuel injector/carb cleaner and some Water Remover, aka Isopropyl alcohol to the new gas and ride the tank out (not necessarily all at once). Recheck your plugs for fouling/gap afterwards. If you still have problems - perform thorough carb cleaning. Dont forget, always add Sta-Bil (or similar product) to your gas before prior to storage.
