Please help...this is prob. a stupid question
I just bought a 2001 Honda cbr F4i. I am also just learning how to ride. My friend and I were practicing going up and down my drive way so I could get used to the clutch and stuff. When I rode it around the block it started to smoke a little and we realized it was over heating pretty bad. We turned it off and everything but I didn't hear a fan or anything kick on. When it cooled down a little my friend rode it around and it cooled off a little more quickly. Does a 2001 have a fan that's supposed to kick in. I know some motorcycles don't. Also could it have overheated just because of riding it in the drive way. Please help and let me know if theres anyway of fixing this problem.
Thanks,
chris

My fan kicks in around 220. Monitor your temp and if it is above that and the fan doesn't kick in then check the fuse. If fuse is good then you should check the fan itself. You'll be hotter running slowly in your drive way because you are not pulling enough air over the radiator but you fan should kick in. That is what it's for.

Mad is right on. To add a note did if you just got it wasit just serviced before you picked it up? could be a little oil on the pipes from a fresh oil change or something. Do what Mad said, and ifare in range and still smoking a bit try and see where its comin from.
