Default Lovely...

So I'm riding around last night, and as I slow to a stop, I hear a, "click" in the front. Hmm, steering head bearings? I'm thinking so. Not a big deal, I can do that. 32K miles, 11years old, it's probably due.

But as I was paying closer attention, I noticed when I took off, I heard a, "click/clunk" in the rear. Sounded like it was coming from behind, and under me. What the hell is that? Could it be the rear wheel bearings? I wouldn't think the swingarm would make a sound like that but who knows? Not me!

So, now that I'm going to replace the steering head bearings, and probably the front wheel bearings, why not change the rears, right?

But I wonder if that's what the problem is. Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? Could use someinput - thanks for the help.

rack the bike and grab the front wheel/forks to see if you get any play from the steering stem. if not then no need to change it. do the same with the front wheel, and rear wheel.

don't change anything that you don't need to!

IDK...play in chain...loose axle bolt...

Hahahahaha - good stuff!

It's not the chain, I can actually feel it in my *** when it happens. I'm sure the front is the head bearings, but I'm stumped on the rear. Come on man - you guys telling me you wouldn't notice a feeling accomponied by a sound in the rear? You know what your bike feels like. You know what sounds it makes...

I dunno - I was hoping someone would offer something! Other than contributing to my delusional paranoia with obsessive compulsive disorder...

Ok so your not paranoid, hang on I hear voices, yep telling me still could your chain, have you adjusted it recently?, my old chain (original) was stretched in so many different places, that If I didn't get it right, to tight in one place, loose in another, it would get that same rythmic kerchunk thing going as the tight spot would pass over the sprocket.could also be kaput links. Put it on its stand, spin the wheel, see if you can locate the sound.See if any of the "O" rings are RS. Check that your brake caliper is ok (all bolts accounted for) and that your disc ain't warped. only other thing I can think of are worn swing arms bushes. Now if you will excuse me, gotta go and put some fresh tin foil round my hat (foil gets full of telepathic rays from Mars you know) beepbeepbeepbeep.............................
