The flapper mod is removing the flaps, or fixing them open in the 1000RR. I don't know what the PAIR mod is. The flapper is there to lower noise level so the 1000RR can pass inspections and may or may not give you a pony or two if you remove it... more noise, but I haven't seen a dyno proving power.

To reduce the noise????? I thought the flapper was to create a back pressure in the air box.

There is a PAIR valve mod I know for the 929, but I don't know if it would be the same for a 1000rr. Plus, I am a little gun shy from getting ripped a new one on another forum for posting such a mod.

the flapper is for backpressure. as far as that pair valve goes all i know is that it is part of the exhaust emissions control. The only mod that people do to it is take it out.

I removed the solenoid and installed a T between the two PAIR reed valves in the valve cover. I removed the hose from the air box which lead to the crank case and plugged it into the T. I removed the second hose from the air box which lead to the PAIR solenoid and capped it.

I was told this helped with the crankcase ventilation and only cost me $.97 for the plastic T. It doesn't hurt to do, but it is up to you.

The Flapper mod can`t help back pressure, because your disabling the flap that opens and closes. So making more air available to combust at lower revs when the flapper would normally remain closed. (below 5ooo revs on a 1000RR) Doesn`t make a massive improvement buts helps, especially along with an aftermarket exhaust which will help flow more gases through aswell.

The Pair system draws in clean air into the exhaust to help burn any unburnt fuel which may be left in the exhaust, as far as i know like 929_erion said the only `mod` is to remove it. People do it for weight loss. The system itself has no effect on performance gains at all.
