Default Options to Lift Front Wheel

Has anyone used any other techniques to safely lift the front wheel for maintenance beside a stand and support from the rafters? I was thinking that the hollow swingarm pivot bolt may be a possible alternative.

Any suggestions or recommendations appreciated.

Thanks,

Get A stand, much easier. If your removing forks use a rear stand and then u can jack the bike up at the engine sump. You`ll need to makle sure you`ve something to protect the sump from damage.

I have a 05 600RR and I just put a floor jack under the oil pan and lift it up balencing it on the kick stand and one of the tires depending on which tire I want off of the ground. If you move the jack to either the front or the back of the oil pan, you can lift the front or the back tire. Give it a try, just be careful. its not the most sturdy of stands but it might do what you want. I use it mainly for oil and tire changes. works fine for that

Thanks for everyone's comments. Can you recommend a good stand?

Since I haven't finished putting mine back together yet from all the painting i've been doing it is still sitting on some jack stands. With the header still on I have a 2x4 running across the back of the header and it is sitting on a jack stand on either side. The 3rd jack stand supports the middle 2 header tubes at the front of the header. Been sitting like this for almost a month now with no problems yet.

Get a set of Pit Bull stands or similar. If you jack up the bike on the oil pan, you're going to run a risk of cracking it since it's only cast aluminum. It's best to spend a few bucks now than to spend a lot more down the road when something gets tore up.

best bang for the buck are the handy stands...sturdy and for 100 bucks, get front and rear.
if you use the hollow front axle to lift...how will you get the wheel off?
