Default Will front wheel lift work?

I am ready to replace the fork seals on my '90 cane. What is the preferred method of raising the front wheel off the ground? Do those front wheel stands work? I want to make sure before I buy one. I just wasn't sure if they would work because they compress the forks right?

Thanks for any help. I'm getting tight on money because this bike turned out to be a real project. The guy I bought it from said put new seals on it and turn the key.

Also, I own a floor jack for a car. Anyone ever used one?

Any fork work means you can't use anything that lifts by the forks. Some front lifts have attachments that lift by the triple t, which will work.

I used a motorcycle floor jack to raise the front end. It lifted by the frame and headers

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I was a little worried about those front wheel lifts.

I use a floor jack and a block of wood to raise the bike, then use jack stands on the engine mount bolts on both sides of the frame. Works good, had the entire front end off.

Sweet! Thanks Billistic. I have a floor jack and two jack stands. I'll get a 4x4 lumber and give it a try. Thanks!

Same as Billistic for me. I use a small flat jack under the engine with a couple of 2 x 4's that rest on the engine.

the front jack stands that slid into the forks are usually only good for front wheel servicing. the other type that slide into the steering stem are more useful.

I don't have much plastic on mine so jacking up isn't as difficult as it is for CBR's that still have all their bodywork.

If you have access to an automotive engine hoist, it works amazingly easy if you don't need to pull the tripple tree. Simply use the engine hoist with a nylon strap around the top tripple clamp; worked for me.
