Operating temperature?
Hey all. Got a new CBR1000rr yesterday, and what I noticed was the thing gets HOT!!!! I was advised to let it warm up to 150 before putting it under load...no problem, I make it a habit of letting all my vehicles get to operating temp before driving...but this thing gets to 150 in like 3 min...really...also, the whole bike feels hot. Just a short trip from the dealer to my house (7mi) and it's at 215. At what temp do the fans kick in? I let it warm up today to 175 and the fans didn't come on. Is this normal? Maybe if the operating tolerance is 180-230 and the fans kick on at 200, than I'm OK. Just wanted to check. Paranoid with the new ride and all. Thanks.
Normal operating temp should be around 175 degrees. Fans should come on around 220. You only have to wait until the temp gets to around 100 before starting out. Then just like a car start to ride/drive and gradually increase the speed as it warms up.
I have an 02 954RR and my running temp is 180 F, fan kicks on at 215-220, just makesure you checkthe overflow reservoir for coolant between the high and low mark for the summer months.
ya my 01 cbr f4i highway temp is about 176 and in the city i run about well 209 in city then when in traffic i get to like 225 and fan kicks on and i stay there at least in traffic.

My fan kicks in a 228 in traffic of course.. I don't know what running temps are, but I'm certain its higher than the 180 you guys are getting. Either I'm losing cooling efficiency or running it hotter. I use Premium fuel.
