Oil Leak w/pictures. HELP!
OK. I have been smelling what I thought was oild for a few days. Level has not dropped enough to notice.
Tonight after seeing some oild on my fairings, and swingarm I removed fairings. After wiping everything down from a coat of oil on everything, I find it. What the hell is that hole under the exhaust manifold. Nothing seems to go in there. This is on left side, just under the exhaust tubing. Oil seeps out of it slowly when running. Here are the pics. PLease HELP!

RE: Oil Leak w/pictures. HELP!
i have a 954 somewhat apart, looked at your pictures, went out and looked at my
engine w/out exhaust installed-my engine has a similar casting-but is not leaking!
at this point-do not ride/or run the bike till you can find out what that hole is for!!-they
should be present beneath all other cyclinders, are they??-it could be a posible headgasket
problem-maybe a problem w/the cyclinder head itself!!,imo-if you run the engine further
could cause damage to other non-damaged parts
my service manual does not show what that opening is for-so i would think,to find-out
the engine head is going to need to be removed[:@]-dont run-it,keep checking w/everybody
someone will know[sm=smiley20.gif]

RE: Oil Leak w/pictures. HELP!
Okay guys, went to a mechanic for honda today. There is nothing major wrong. I will explain the best I can without showing the diagram he showed me.
Where the spark plugs go down into the valve cover, and creates a "cup" for water to stand, there is a small hole beside where the spark plugs screws down. This hole actually travels through the head, and exits just below the exhaust manifold. This is just so water that finds its way on top of the valve cover does not fill up the hole where the spark plug resides. Now, the problem. The valve cover gasket is leaking around that hole for the spark plug to screw down into the head. Therefore, leaking oil into the external part of the spark plug hole, which in return is doing it's job by letting it drain out. I hope this is clear enough to understand. So I will have to replace the valve cover gasket. ($31.25). Mind as well because I can check valve adjustment while I am at it. Hope this may help others with a mysterious oil leak!
