Man what's been going on in your garage.... And between him and another site that did these thing its honda, Mobil 1 and k&n in that order for me.

I have a fram on there now but that's all they had a the local auto shop don't really want drain the oil just to put another filter on there.

Not to thread jack but I've head rumors that Honda gn4 is actually real bad oil (heard it over at two other competing forums). Does anyone know of actual evidence to support or drunk that rumor? On one of the other forums they said some oil engineer had proof of it but I never saw it. Would like to know.

i just wait til my oil is so old that the clutch starts slipping, yep thats when i can tell for sure. and filters, i never change mine, why bother its fine. it looks clean on the outside.

na jus joking, amsoil 20/50 full synthetic at 3,000 and wix filter. it shifts smoother if i change it around 3,000 instead of 4,000 or so. 50,000 still running strong

you are using 20w-50, is that correct? what made you choose that over the 10w-40.

20W-50 is for higher average temperature....summer time. 10W-40 is suitable for winter, colder temp.

meh, unless your oil is hitting temps in excess of 305 degrees F, the thinner oil is still a better option. That's why you use thicker oil and an oil cooler in race situations.

yep, thats correct. summer temps here in southeast are so hot ya know, so i use the 20/50. it holds vescosity for longer. especially when i get caught in 100+ temps sitting in traffic, riding every single day (average 600 miles a week), drag racing one weekend, touring the next (literally). plus the way i ride too. when im in the open, chop chop on that throttle, he he.

and say for some reason i cant change the oil exactly at 3,000 miles it will still have very good vescosity to hold up easily another 500-1000 miles. it has to do a lot with my riding conditions. and to add to that amsoil sells amsoil and wix together as a combo. so i know im getting a good combo.

really though oil is oil as long as its for a bike, its all good. less expensive oil and filter is better than low oil or bad/used up oil and filter any day of the week.

when it starts getting around forty and fifty degrees in winter, i switch back to the thinner 10/40. it talks about it in the manual on pg 3-11. talks about different oil vescosities and average temps in you particular riding area.

I've heard changing oil too soon is bad too? Have you ever heard such? This comes from HD rider...oil needs to be used to gets it's full potential...

Not true, from an oil stand point. Maybe a waste of money by not getting enough use from it, but fresh oil is always better than used oil.

It's like saying that you're hurting the bike by getting gas at 1/2 tank, instead of using all the gas first before filling.
