odd rattleing noise at rpm
Hey all, I'm getting a strange rattleing at 3k rpm's and 5k rpms. I just got the bike so I can't say if it's been happening long, but I don't remember it happening when I was test driving it. It happens whether I'm on the road or just reving it in neutral.
The rattleing doesn't seem to becomming from the farings. A friend of mine thinks it could be something mechanical. Let me know what ya'll think or if anyone else has had this issue.
Thanks!

Mark,
Hard to say without knowing which bike ya got. The RPM range does sound just about right for the infamous Cam Chain Tensioner Lifter, but without knowing more I can't really make a more educated guess.

gotta be the CCT, mine did it between 5k and 6k RPMS, you can swap it out with a newer one from Honda or get an APE manual one. The Honda one will probably do the same thing after a few thousand miles and will need replacing, the APE will need adjusting every few thousand miles (but should never need replacing). If it is the CCT just do a google search for tutorials on how to install it, there are plenty out there and its not incredibly hard. The CCT (lifter) is located on the engine, directly under the back side of the gas tank on the right.
Word, thanks for the info guys! I'll look into that...
Sparky, sorry about not posting what kinda bike I had. I thought having it in my sig was obvious enough. 2002 CBR600 F4i with about 11k miles.

found what I needed at http://cbrzone.com/sprockets.html -- ordering it tomorrow, I'll let you know how the install goes and if that fixes my problem. Thanks again for the help!
LMAO! Mark, you're right I should have looked at your signature, but once I started thinking about your question I quit reading the post, sorry bout that! Guess I have a one track mind sometimes.
