Do you just turn it on and let it idle in the driveway to determine if its running hot?

You need AIRFLOW to keep it cool. These things arn't designed to stay cool idling in the driveway.

Yes but the fan should kick on and keep it from overheating. If your fans not kicking on you have a problem.

+1 to the fans issue. Make sure there's no air in your coolant system as well. Temperature while cruising at a steady speed should be around 170-190... The temp will QUICKLY rise, on my bike, to 220ish in stop and go traffic or at stoplights, even on a cool day.

Same here...170-195 or so while riding....stop for any length of time and in the 200's....when I get to my house I'll let it idle while taking off my lid and gloves etc and it will almost always go to 220 plus (fan kicks in)

Normal?
