Hi lads, I'm new to the forum but not biking. I've had most of the big sport bikes over the years including a lovely silver 929 blade and a one off SP1. My current scooter is a very modified Kawasaki green ZX12r which I use for hyper touring and generally scarring the crap out of myself !!

I'm currently in the market for a very clean well loved and maintained 1992/93 CBR900rr Fireblade in the red white and blue colours. I was just wondering if you could tell me what to look for when viewing. High mileage doesn't seem to affect them but all machines have weaknesses.....

Thanks for looking and all the best…!!!

Those 'blades would spin a bearing if wheelied a considerable amount because of oil flow. Make sure you look at the oil and it's not any sort of grey and doesn't sparkle. Make sure you don't hear any noises. I'd watch it go through the entire heat cycle - cold start, warm up until the fan comes on, and see if the fan goes back off after a minute or two of being on. After all of that, kill the bike for a min or two, and make sure it starts back up when hot.
