Hey guys, just bought an 1000rr '08 leftover, been riding her for a week, keeping it below 6500 rpm ,in San Diego (90+ heat). Read about the oil burning issues on the 2008, or at least the more than random incidents, but any general advice on breaking in the CBR? I've already noticed that clutch seems "looser" and is the 1st gear "CLUNK" normal? Coming off an '07 FZ6 (Yamaha), this is a lot more bike and I wanna treat her right!

At least for the for the 1st 500 clicks (which your probably pretty close to) Just a bit gentle through the gears, most modern motors don't really need to be "bedded" as all the components are pretty well made (not like it's an old BSA Triple or anything), but as it's new,you still need to take it easy. Don't over stress the motor (low speeds in top gear) or start doing mono's straight off. The clunk in 1st gear I think is fairly traditional for CBR's.
And congratulations on your new bike
