Default New to a CBR, have couple questions?

Hey everyone,
I just bought a 2003 600RR and had a couple questions. I was curious if the digital clock should always be on? Or even a small bar on the digital fuel gauge? They are on even without the key in. I was also curious if this is a possible electrical problem since I am having starting problems and have needed to jump several times. Battery may be past useful life.I was wondering, also, if anyone knew of the approximate cost of getting a new multi-function display. I would appreciate any help you could give me.

the clock and fuel gauge are always on, and the battery sounds like it needs to be replaced but check the voltage on it before you spend $100+ on a new battery and indysuperbike.com has the power commander multi function display for 241 + shipping

hope this helps
