New Bike new problems
#11
Well after i rebuilt the carbs from using the how to section i changed the plugs and tried starting it but it seemed to be a little sluggish when trying to start so i recharged the battery. Well when i woke up the next day i tried starting it and it seemed to be doing the same thing.... nothing..... so i let it sit and tried the choke a little and it started but stalled so it took me about 10 more min of trying to start it and "boom shaka la ka" she fired up. now that i got it running i had to hold on the throttle a little to keep it running. I didnt want to have to go through the ordeal again ! So when i got it up to operating temp i took it out for a ride and wow there was a good bit of carbon buildup in the motor ( i only know cuz my friend was behind me when i got on the road and it blew out since than) well that led me to believe that maybe i have a headgasket problem so i did a compression test and everything was amazing 12:1 i was amazed due to the age of the bike! So once i got home i messed with the idle adjuster above the peacock valve and now she fires up with just a pop on the starter! There are still a few things that worry me ( the bike was laid down and needs a little tlc) ( the bolts that hold little things together i.e. fuel pump O_o) O and i removed all of the old fuel out of it and put some 93 in it just to make sure it wasnt a fuel problem. But after all the work was done i figured the bike sat up for quite some time without running and that is why it was such a pain to get running.
