Need help for tomorrow project. I'm so stupid
i have a 97 cbr f3 and the battery is almost dead and not accepting a charge but once I jump the bike it would stay running, PROBLEM: I went to try and jump it today from my car, and I reversed the polarities on the cables and lost all power from the bike. What do I do. I checked all of the fuses on the right front side of the bike...Is there another fuse box...I am Lost!!!!Help, I wanna right tomorrow. Please help the newbie
I am not a big bike mechanic (yet) but if it is anything like a vehicle, when you cross your cables, you just drained the battery of anything that was left in it. If it is not holding a charge, you need to determine what the problem is and fix it. When you have a problem like that and you don't fix it, it only gets worse. Then when you need it to start the most, like away from your house, it won't. I would check the alternator to make sure it is charging and if so, I would replace the battery.
I hope youre right, I will try it in the morning, I already took the battery out just cause I thought that might be it, I believe the alternator is ok because it was boosting the dead battery a little from about an hour of runtime. Thanks for the help.
you may have already cheaked but cheak fuse # 21 in this link micro fitch
sorry about the bad link but it is the same fuse mhcbrf2 was talking about

When you reversed the cables did you actually press the start button? If not then you just killed your battery. A motorcycle battery is no match for a car battery and there are ways to kill one. So get a new battery and see what happens.
Now the chastisement: Running a low battery on a modern sportbike is bad idea. To save weight (and rotational mass) the generator's on our bikes are tiny. The 1000RR only puts out 340watts at 5000rpms. Not enough to run a hairdryer. So your battery is always charging and discharging while the bike is running. A very weak battery can, at best make the bike run goofy and at worst leave your *** stranded on the side of the road. Walking sux.
Good luck -- I don't think you screwed anything up except maybe the old battery.

I'm curious to hear what happened after you put in a fresh battery. I've come close to crossing wires before but always catch myself. Please let us know in case we need the info in the future.
All of the responses assisted me in one way or another, I found the fuse on the positive terminal which was blown, I put in a new battery and things woked perfectly, thanks for all of the help.
