Need help in a hurry fuel pump problem
My bike is at my work right now with no way to get it home. I went to lunch on it with no problem then i tried to start it after that and nothing it just keeps turning over. When i hit the fuel switch the pump doesnt prime or anything. Also the left blinker light is stuck on and the blinker switch isnt pressed. I checked all fuses under the seat and there all fine. Its a 02 F4i what else can i do? I need to get it home before 8 and its already 6:40
Alright guys the display has the left blinker staying on and the high beam light and the red light next to the left blinker is on. No matter if i switch the highs on or off the light stays on same thing with the blinker. Any ideas what can be causing this? I dont even know where to start looking
Headlights dont turn on either but the taillights work fine. The left rear blinker is stuck on but not the front one. It sounds like a short but where would i start looking?
A short occurs when current flows directly to ground without the resistance of a load. The symptoms are usually a blown fuse, burnt wiring, or a dead battery. It sounds like you have an open, where the circuit has been interupted by something like a broken wire, a loose or corroded connector, a faulty switch, or something that breaks the loop of current.
How do you troubleshoot it? A wiring diagram for your bike is a big help, and a $5 Continuity Tester or Self-Powered Test light. Disconnect the battery, and test the components, both sides of the fuses, and all switches and relays in the broken circuit. This is the same thing a competent mechanic would do.
Doesn't your bike have a tip-over switch that shuts off the fuel pump? I would start there. Does the fuel pump and headlights have a common power wire or ground wire?

yo mang...someone had issues that when the headlight wasn't working, the fuel pump would not prime...but i think that's more because the bank angle sensor wires are in the same bundle and the cluster, headlight, etc.
did you try looking in the connector there where your headlights and such are conntected its to big white connectors should be in the front of your bike on the right side. just follow your headlight wires to it if you have to. i had a problem in there where 2 of the connectors burned up with some goo crap on them and my headlights stoped working.. anyway i just had to clean it and it worked fine. that was on my 929.. i relize you dont have a 929 but it might still help. i'm sure all bikes are about the same... need spark and fuel.
this is from my 929 manual:
ENGINE DOES NOT START OR IS HARD TO START
Possible cause
•
Faulty fuel pump (Section 5) 1 . Check for operation of the fuel pump
