Default need help getting a 96 cbr motor started

I am sticking a cbr 600 motor in a four wheeler, all it is, is just the motor and gear box so I need to know what I need to get/do to get it running. The guy said it was from an RR but I dont know for sure. Will any carb set-up from around that year work on this? I think I need a cdi and maybe a wiring harness could someone explain this process to me? and can I just use any radiator off a bike I can find? Also how can I use the starter to turn it on, and I will need to turn it off too. thanks in advance.

Nope, I just don't think many members here will be able to help since its not a bike, its a conversion to a quad. If you had an issue with your bike, a ton of people would have replied by now.

But, I'll give it stab. You will need a wiring harness for sure with all of the attached hardware. You may or may not need the gauge cluster, i don't think on a model that old you will need it. Some bikes use the gauge cluster to monitor certain engine functions, but as I said, that model is probably old enough you wont need it. But if it were me, I'd find one just to keep tabs on rpms.

For carbs, I'd find a carb set up for that year. They changed internals between years and you already have enough stacked against you with your swap, you really don't need another variable to fight with.

As for the radiator. I would imagine any radiator, as long as its capacity is large enough, should be fine. Just be sure to have an adequate fan for the radiator.

For the ignition, you should be able to use anything that brings the system "hot". such as a switch, a key tumbler, anything that brings a battery hot to life within the ignition system. then, use a starter button to start the bike. I would also suggest hooking up your killswitch.

Since its going in a quad, the ignition hot, killswitch and starter button should be ok to use. However, the starter button may not be rated for as much power draw. Just keep an eye on it.

Just from thinking. the only thing I would bypass would be the kickstand switch. If your quad doesnt have a clutch switch, you may have to modify a clutch lever from a cbr to fit. You really should keep the clutch switch active so you don't start the quad in gear without the clutch pulled in.

Best thing to invest in right now would be a service manual for a 96 cbr 600.

Also, not engine related, but upgrade your drivechain and sprockets to fit the 600 engine. Quad chains are very weak and will not hold up to the power of the 600. The last thing you want is to break the chain and have it crash into your engine case. Many engines have been destroyed by broken chains. stick with a good high tensile strength chain.

Hopefully, I won't be too far behind you in your mods. My next project is an R1 Raptor.
