Need help flat black rattle-can paint job
What's up guys, new to the site and need to paint my cbr figured this would be a good place to get some helpfull info. I know the prep is really important and have somewhat of an idea of what needs to be done, but please fill me in. From what I know once I clean everything I'll need to sand all the plastics and the tank, first with about a 400 grade while wet? Then a couple more times with somehting like a 1000 grade while wet? I also read its a good idea to clean it with a gease remover, should I use that before and after the sanding? Then with the paint what needs to go on before and after the coats of flat black? I know they have a clear coat for flat colors, I assumed thats what I'd need at the end. Anything helps and thanks in advance!

I would start with 220 GRIT, then 400 DRY, and then a GREY (ultra fine) scrubby pad, kinda like the green ones used to do dishes. The "grease" remover should be used right before you paint, after all the prep work. And a mixture of rubbing alcohol and water (60w/40a) will work fine for this, no need to buy some "special" high dollar cleaner. Use the mix when you do the wet sanding it'll help show the imperfections and sanding scratches. For the clear coat, its gonna add shine to the finish, but you can get some thats a low gloss formula, it'll still shine just not as much.
