need help changing plugs
What year is your bike? Can you still get the factory manual from the dealer? The first thing that I ordered was the factory service manual. I have been wrenching on cars for over 25 years and I know the value of a good book. I have an 06 1kRR (my first bike) and I had to dig pretty deep into my bike after an accident, that manual was priceless! The tool kit that came with my bike does OK but further in I needed other sockets and other ways to finish my repairs. I do have a pretty deep tool box at work to lean on so I don't get my back against the wall too often. Although, when I was changing my throttle cable, a clever use of a bent coat hanger saved my a**. Got to love those coat hangers! Talked too much, buy the book or find it, out....
You do not HAVE to remove the tank to change the plugs but it's easier (although more time consuming). If you remove the mid fairings, you can get to the plugs witha 5/8 sparkplug socket attached to a swivel attached to a three inch extension. You have to drop the socket/swivel/extension combo into the sparkplug hole then attach your wratchet but it took me less than 15 minutes today.
