my new (to me) bike died...
I posted this in the F1 forum too, but I thought some of you other guys may be able to help as well, so here goes:
I finally got the cbr all legal yesterday, so I decided to ride in this morning. About 10 minutes into my 20 minute trip, it starts acting like I need to switch to reserve,so I pull into a parking lot because I prefer not to do that while moving unless I have to. Sure enough it cuts off as soon as I lay off the throttle. So, I switch it over, but it won't start. The engine is cranking, but it just won't turn over. I figured maybe the reserve switch doesn't work right, so I had my wife bring me gas. It was low, but I don't think it was actually "reserve low". I switch it back to on and still nothing. By this this time the battery is getting low, so I go get my car and hook up jumpers (not while running the car). It still won't start.
I'm thinking it's a fuel issue, but I have no clue how to tell if it's carbs or fuel pump or what. After getting it towed home, I have the battery charging and then I'm going to try again after letting it sit.
Now, I'm thinking that maybe I got hosed on this bike. The thing is that I took it out for a nice test ride before making the deal and everything seem fine. Also, I'm not sure how you would go about hiding something like this anyway.
What do you guys think?
Any idea what the problem might be?
Do you think I got hosed?
