Default MOTOROLA'S?

I am wondering if any one here has tried to use a Motorola's with an ear piece and throat mic or voice activated mic's? I have a couple of motorolas and was wondering if it worked, I dont want to purchase a couple of chatter boxes if this works. Are there any other ways to communicate between 2 bikes besides chatter boxes?

I tried some cheaper voice activated walkie talkies with a hands free headphone with mic. It worked find as far as volume went. Sound quality was ok, but not the greatest. The biggest issue was that you had to say something for it to transmit so usually the first word or two of what you were saying was lost. If you set the sensitivity too high, wind noise will cause it to stay on. I'm not sure how the chatterboxes work. They'd probably work better.

I tried... too much wind noise to work well. I have the 5-mile Motorola’s and the range was only good for a couple blocks.

I tryed it and it works ok but only at low speeds! The wind sound becomes too much and you can't hear a thing. but for city driving or something it works good.
