Default Modifying gauge?

the tach on my F4i gauge has not been working for a while, it used to work once in a while rarely when it wanted to for only a few seconds for the needle to jump a few times but other than that I read no RPM. Ebay has a gauge for sale really cheap because the lcd is broken and doesnt work but the tach does. Is there a way I could somehow take that working tach and put it into my working lcd? I need a new one either way but if i could get by with this cheap fix I wouldn't mind trying it.

the circut board and housing is all in one piece inside the casing tho so unless someone thats good with electronics can help I'm not sure how it would work without playing with it.

Are you sure the problem is internal in your gauge cluster? It could be a simple loose pin connector, the pickup signal wire, the pickup coil... I would make sure what the problem is before tearing apart what could be a good cluster, just an external problem.

As for taking apart your cluster and fitting a tack from another, Unless you have a very good knowledge and ability with electronics, I would suggest not doing it.

Im not saying it can't be done, Just personally, I wouldn't. You could end up out even more money when you have to buy a replacement anyway. Plus, getting the cluster resealed may be a pina.
