Default Marine-Tex is the S&*T!!!

HOpefully this is the appropriate place to post this but I gotta let everyone know about this stuff. I bought an '02 F4i from an auction and little did I know when I got it back to my house it was leaking oil. I took the motor out and inspected where the leak was coming from and discovered it was coming from a hairline fracture in the casing where the bottom motor mount bolt is and the kick stand is mounted. I used a little dremel tool and grinded out a little valley everywhere I saw the crack. I had this marine grade stuff called Marine-Tex that my uncle had bought for some boat repairs. It is impermeable to heat and oil and pretty much everything else and has the tensil strength about 10 times that of JB WEld if not more. It goes on like a putty, sands like wood, and hardens like steel. Basically this stuff says on the packaging it is made for cracked blocks and many other applications. The repair is completed, no oil leaks, and the bike is back running.... other than the radiator which I am in need of. If you have any more questions about this product let me know and I can get you some info...and I am not trying to sell this stuff... I am just happy with the results and wanted to let others that might have the same problem in on some good s$&t!

Cool, it's nice to know about things that work. I have sealed a leak in a stator cover (small crack like you) on my 1000F using JBWeld, but this is certainly something to keep in mind.
