Default Magnetic Drain Plug?

Ive heard that natural engine decay leads to very small metal debris floating around your engine. Ive heard there are magentic drain plugs that collect these shavings when they cycle through the oil pan.

Is this true or some myth? If true, can anybody point me to them?

I've seen them offered for cars from a companies like Mr. Gasket or B&M. Check out this site on Jegs.com

A good oil and regular changes mean you shouldn`t need any magnetic plugs.

The magnetic plugs are used more for a warning. You inspect them when you change the oil so you know if you're having any abnormal wear.
