Low RPM, Idle messed up
ok, i just bought my F3. In order for it to idle, you have to have the choke on, and when you rev it, it bogs down until about 4K RPM...
after that it screams. It has a vance and hines slip on (s4) muffler on it, and i dont know if the carbs were jetted.
What are some possible causes of the bogged down, and the idle with the choke??
Is it probably from the carbs?
Im running carb cleaner in it right now, and after a tank it hasnt seemed to help at all.
thanks.

I just bought a jet kit for it. dynojet stage 1. It should be here later on in the week. Ill clean the carbs when i put the kit on. Hopefully this will fix the problem, if not at least my carbs are jetted now....
Think my problem will be fixed after i clean the carbs and install the jet kit??

As long as you also adjust the idle screws and other settings correctly, then yes, your problem should be fixed. Needing a jet kit in itself will not make the bike run like you describe.
maybe the low speed jets are clogged too, so ill be cleaning them, and putting new jets in.
But we do know for sure that the problem is in the carbs right?
we'll see later on this week when the new jets come in, ill tear the carbs down n clean them and put the new jets in.

allright. figured out the problem. The low rpm jets were clogged. runs like a champ now with no jet kit. Those holes in the low rmp jets were no bigger than a piece of fishing line(which i used to clear them out)
If I may ask, did you have the jets out, or did you just fish the line into the carbs without taking them apart? Mine runs slightly rough, but IMO not enough to pay someone $300+ to pull the carbs and clean everything that is for the most part already clean. If I can fish the line through without disassembly, it would save me a bunch of $$.
just take the float bowls off, take off the smaller jet with the head for a screwdriver, soak it in carb cleaner, then run the line through it, then more carb cleaner, then reassemble. Take the jet out, its not difficult at all.
