Lots of new fitments this weekend: Sliders, Bar Heat, Panniers
Team, I'm hanging on some accessories on WorshipCycle this Martin Luther King weekend.
First up were a set of Oxford Heated Grips. With me riding to work thrice weekly in 22 degree F weather, I got tired of the permanently frozen fingers and sprung only $63 (delivered) for some Oxford Sportbike heated grips. My main concern was wiring the set; I'd not removed a panel yet on the bike and it all looked pretty darned involved to me.
I just fell on the job with a sense of purpose and got the panels off. I took a great deal of time to assess the wiring layout so it would be clear, and I fabbed up two distribution blocks for positive and negative switched power, highly suitable for future 12v electric mods like GPS or phone power. It all worked exceedingly well.
While the sides are off, I popped engine mounts and put in extended sliders in black. I carved on the port lower shell for a half an hour, until fit was perfect. God's personal favorite tool is a Dremel, but it has to be wielded with discretion and grace. In spite of my initial ham-fistedness, I got the whole affair dialed in fairly competently. I will finish the last side tomorrow and strap on some panniers from Nelson Rigg in the AM. I have some photos I'll upload tomorrow of my progrees.

I put $100 worth of groceries into those bags last night! I was totally impressed.
Not bad for a noob. However, I took my Bully pager lock and somehow set off the alarm on it. I rode halfway home with it blaring away from the pillion. I finally stopped and turned it off.
I am really starting to hate that thing - you never really know when you're turning it on or not.
