Default Got my frame sliders on... took lots of pics

I figured, what the hell, might as well take some pics along the install process... so I did! Got them on tonight, along with my new left side fairing. I was gonna do the stator cover too, but it's gonna leak oil when I take it off and I don't have any more oil to add at the moment, so I'm just gonna wait until next weekend when I do my oil change. I'm actually kinda disappointed in how they came out... my hole drilling skillz SUCK!!! Neither of them are centered in the hole at all. The right side isn't quite as bad, but the left side is horrible! It's actually rubbing on the front edge of the fairing, so I might have to do a lil trimming to make them fit a little better

Anyways, here's how I did them... start to finish

Center it right on the engine bolt to be removed and replaced with the slider bolt

Mark the fairing

I put some tape around the surrounding areas "just in case" of a slip of the drill, and to help hold the edges of the stickers together while drilling. I also drilled a small pilot hole to make sure it went in exactly at the right spot without moving

Put the brand new fairing on the left side

So now I just gotta do the stator cover, and get the tail and front repainted and she'll be good as new again!

Looks good buddy. Glad to see your getting her back together. My vortex sliders have been sitting an my work bench for about 2 months now. Just got to get up the nerve to cut my fairings.

Jared -

Great job!

You are the only one who will notice that the sliders aren't exactly centered in the holes. Trust me on this.

If you really can't stand it, get some small diameter black rubber hose (like vacuum tubing) and split it open along its length. Then slide the tubing over the edge of the cuts you made for the slider - instant and easy grommet on the inside of the slider hole that will hide anything.

Good job using the lazer beam method.
Clean cut, dead on center. SWEET!!!

good stuff. i have the same thing going o my left side fairing. the plastic is rubbing off the slider. i think its because the bike is tilled to the left side during the drilling process. if anyone plans to do this i strongly recommend doing this on a stand or have a friend level the bike.
