jumping ign system
well then theres no way to realy jump the ignition cause it still wont carry spark to the plug, have to start at one end and work to the other see what cyclinders arent sparking, pull the plugs and hit the starter button for a sec and see if they spark, then check the coils if you found some that dont spark take a plug that did spark and stick in the coil of a plug that didnt and see if it will spark. if it doesnt spark with a good plug in it then maybe the coil is bad a shop can test em for you to see if the coil is bad, if the coil isnt bad then you have to go up futher, check the line and connection to the coil use a volt meter see if your gettin power to all of em if not go up to the next connection till you find the problem.
is there anyway to bypass the ign ctrl module with an earlier design what would that cost me to retrofit like contact breaker points on a transistor system or maybe even a capacitance discharge ignition system?
Strech is giving you the straight skinney. Quit trying for the easy fix. Pull each plug.
Ground them against the engine, bump the starter. See which (if any) fail
to spark. That will point to which (or both/niether) coils might be bad.
If you check the plugs for spark, you'll at least know if your assumption that
there isn't a spark is even correct. After you do that, let us know the results
and we can help you over the next curve.
Hope this helps, Ern

i checked them along time ago with the heads but i just noticed some gunky looking stuff on the inside of the plug wires, what might that be? Could it be dielectric grease? How do I know? Should I clean that stuff out?
Also I have this test light from napa it told me i can test spark plugs with that I suppose you just connect the plug in series to the ground side, find a hot wire than see if it lights im not sure has anyone ever used a NAPA test light to check a plug or is it used for continuity still dunnno..
btw when i first bought the bike i have now (cbr f2) I was using a high octane (premium) would that have done anything detrimental to my plugs or whatnot?
