Idle Problem: 96 CBR 600 F3
I'm a newbie to the site and to motorcycles in general. A week ago, I bought a used 96 CBR with 19,000 miles on it as my beginner bike. However, the bike has been sitting in the garage (pending my motorcycle license) and has develped an idling problem. The symptoms are: difficulty firing up, rought idle, and eventual shut down.
I have replaced the old battery with a new one and it seemed to help, but now the problem is back.
Any suggestions on what I should check out?
Thank you in advance!

How long has it been sitting? Was there gas in it? You may need to clean your fuel system. Try running some seafoam through it. If it doesn't help you may need to get your carbs cleaned, specifically the pilot jets.
It's been there for like 4 days without being ridden. I went to start it right now and it would seem like it rolls over but doesn't want to start. So now, it just won't start.[&:]
4 days isnt long enough for gas to go bad. So with that said try some seafoam anyways. Is your bike completely dead from you trying to start it? How did the bike run when you first got it? Was it sitting for awhile before then?
Yea the bike sat before then for like 2 weeks but seemed to run fine the day I got it. When I try to start it, it seems like it's about to roll over and fire but doesn't. I'll try seafoam to see it helps.
Thanks for your help.
