Default idle problem

My 2000 F4 sat in the garage unstarted for 2 months. I went out and got a new battery it started right up. Problem is, it only runs when I give it gas. I let go of the throttle it dies everytime. Please help!!
Is it an idle adjustment issue or fuel filter/jet problem?
I'm not bike tech savvy at all. Any help is appreciated.

Welcome to the forum txflaca. Did you just park the bike for two months or did you drain the fuel from the carbs?

1. make sure you start the bike with the choke for at least 2minutes
2. after the engine is warm make sure your bike idles at about 1300-1600rpm. if it's not idling at that speed twist the little **** on the side of the bike to increase/decrease idle.
3. Make sure you change your fuel as 2months will make it crappy

Ok, now where specifically is that idle adjustment ****? My father accidently turned a small black **** thinking it was something else. He turned it back. However, when he turns it either way, it seems to have no effect on my idle issue.
