yep. the more teeth you have on the rear sprocket vs stock will give you quicker acceleration. Also, less teeth on the front sprocket will do the same. the usual combination is 2 more teeth on the rear and one less on the front. This is roughly the same as going 4 and a half on the rear as going one less in the front is close the same as 2 and half more in the rear.
It does throw off your speedometer and raise your cruising rpms a bit. A speedo healer may in order if your bike isnt already equiped with one.

the faster you go, the more it will be off. Its basically a percentage that it will be off. So if your going 55 mph with an 18 percent inaccuracy, your speedo would read 65 mph, 10 mph off. but, that same 18 percent inaccuracy at 25 mph, would indicate just over 4 mph, just over a 4 mph inaccuracy.
