Not sure there is a check for it. Just replace after xxxxx miles. It's cheap. Think I paid like $8 for mine from Pepboys.

guess if it's a clear filter you could start the engine and see if fuel is moving thru it

 

well, it's got enough flow to let the engine go to thirteen grand, I tried getting a cheapo filter from my bike shop, but it fits one hose but not the other, I think they design the fuel filter strange on the f3 on purpose since they're seventeen bucks
