Default Honda F2 Power Issue

I have a 1994 Honda F2 that when I ride a short distance (less than 100 miles) runs fine, when I ride farther than that, the battery drains. If I disconnect the headlight, I can bump start the bike and after riding it for a short time, it charges enough that I can use the starter again. I have been riding it all season to and from work just about daily. I have checked the regulator/rectifier and it is working fine. I have checked the battery and it is fine. I am guessing that it has a short somewhere in the wiring harness going to the headlight. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just a thought, when the reg starts to go, it overheats, thats when you get problems like your having. But when you go to test it, it has usually cooled down enough to give a good reading, test it again straight after a ride.
