Default 04 CBR F4i dies when driving (power issue)

Hey all - had a weird issue with my bike last week. Actually it showed signs prior, about a month ago I filled up with gas and took off... mile down the road the bike completely shut off when I was riding it and the red emergency. Brakes worked fine, I down shifted into Neutral, turned the key and engine off, turned it back on and it fired right back up.

Gave the bike an oil change and was hoping it was just a fluke.. Last week I was riding down the beltline and same thing happened. Completely shut off, dead in the water. Pulled over and tried powering it back on, nothing, no turn over, dead battery. I get on the phone to get towed and right as he asks where I am, the bike gets power and fires back up. I am able to ride it to a safer location and have a buddy pick it up in his truck.

Another item worth noting is the clock keeps reseting. It'll show 8 AM when it's really 2 PM and the next day at 2 PM it'll show 7 PM...

I'm thinking it's a wiring / shorting issue. The battery was replaced this year, never had any issues firing it up. Any ideas?

start checking your harnesses is about the only thing i can suggest...as for which one not really sure, but i'd give the main one by the left intake tube a good going over.

When the battery was changed the terminals were not tightened properly and now they are loose. Tighten them up and you will be back on the road.

Ya first place to check is the battery terminals. Then if ok check the fuse box and the main 30 amp fuse. Then inspect the wiring harness at all connections and look for any bare wires that could be grounding anywhere.

Thanks all I finally had time to check it out for the first time.... I removed the battery and placed it back in and tightened down all the terminals. I checked the time this morning and it was still correct so hopefully it was a nice and easy fix. I'll keep ya posted if it happens again.

Check the bank angle sensor. That lil **** gave me problems until I added die electric grease to the connectors. Since then, no problems
