Default High Mileage inspection

Hey guys Im new to cycle repair. I do have much experience in automotive. I have a CBR 954 and was wondering what are some wear points on the suspension Would the control arm bushings be a big wear point?. It has 17584 miles on it. Im sure I will need to rebuild the Front forks, Replace front and rear wheel bearings, check valve clearences. Are there anything else I need to do?

How do I check the wheel bearings, Swing arm and forks.

its nice to see people actually take care of thier bike. some of the 954 guys might know specific things to look for on that bike but generally speaking you've pretty much got it unless you notice something else out of the ordinary noise vibration ect. to check the bearings and swingarm is simply lifting it and spinning the wheels for noise and TRYING to shake them back and forth/ side to side. no play no noise=good(99.9%).lol. as for the forks......hopefully one of these guys can answer that one cause i never have tried to check oil level just rebuild after so many miles, or when one leaked, with new oil. but any bike new to me gets ALL new fluids. good luck with it.

I agree with james on the all new fluids part. I would flush the brake system out with new fluid because most people dont think about doing that. Also I would drain and fill the coolant as well. Another item most people look at and say, "Yep its full, lets ride."

High mileage ?? Not! If you had 100K on it, then ok I'd say you had high mileage. Yes it's time to do the valve clearance adjustments, but it's only because it's due for it's first scheduled time to do it. I would consider that a low mileage bike. +1 on what's been said before for new fluids. That bike is hardly broken in. Just get out there and ride that thing.
