RE: High mileage?
31k ain't squat if the bike has been looked after. The F3s have the toughest valve system of all bikes on Earth.
Ask the owner:
"Has it ever been down?" Make him show you where and what he did to fix it.
"How does it wheelie?" If the owner starts to answer "how to",walk away. These bikes live longer when the front wheel stays on the ground. When the front is up,the motor is starved of oil.Don't let anyone tell you about "oil pickups" and stuff like that,it's all nonsense.
"How often did you have the valves looked at?" If so,ask what the valve specs were.
"What oil filters do you use?" Yes this is important.OEM is best.K&N,STP,Fram, all junk.EMGOs are good and so are Vesrahs.
Does it have paper or K&N air filters? Paper is best.K&Ns are only beneficial if there has been lots of hop-ups done. Otherwise, these bikes (and a few others) make more power with paper.
These motors will go longer than 100k,literally,provided the front wheel has been on the ground. My F2 has approx 60k ham-fisted miles and still runs like a dog shot in the ***.
If everything is good, tell him "All I have is 2k.That's all I have". Be sincere when doing this.He may take it.
Good luck and holla back

RE: High mileage?
those miles are not high once taken care of correctly as stated above. but most ppl tend to shy away from buying bikes with over 20k on the odom . shop around see whats out there . and if 2k is all u have be prepared to drop another 5 to 6 hundred on whatever bike u get cause you might wanna invest in some gear and the bike may need 1 or 2 small upgrades you may want

RE: High mileage?
I bought my 95 f3 with 41K miles for 500 dollars. They guy who I bought it from wife left it outside when they split up so he had no where to take it. I bought it and it was not running so I invested around 500 in geting it back running at it kicks ***. It has alot of power and I just need it painted now and maybe a couple of hundred more dollars will help it be a real great bike. Ride it and if it rides good buy it I mean 2 grand is not a bad price for a honda which last forever!

RE: High mileage?
I agree with everybody. I mean as long as you take care of a bike it will last a long time. I know its not a sport bike but my neighbor has a harley with 80000 miles on it.He keeps up on itand it runs amazing. My f2 has 25000 and the same applies just take care it. Try and find out a little about the history and if you know somebody it wouldn't hurt to ride it and look it over.
