Default Hesitation

I have an 02 f4i and just recently it started to do this little hesitation thing. When your just going around at a constant speed you can feel it jump forward and back every so often. It has also became very loud recently and sometimes it has trouble starting but still has all the power it had before. Any ideas what this could be?

what has become very loud? a certain noise?

with an intermitten problem, its hard to tell. But the most common fueling problem with the F4i is the Fuel Pressure Regulator.

Certain jumpiness in a constant speed could also be related to the chain and sprocket. Are the in good condition and properly lubed? Is the chain adjusted correctly? A chain that is too loose may create this situation, along with some added noise. but without knowing the exact noise, it will be hard to offer and advice.

I believe the chain and sprocket are ok becasue i just got new tires a few days ago. I think the extra noise is the cct, again. Could this cause it to jump a little while riding?

I dont think it will. your timing shouldnt change even if the chain is loose. the tensioner only takes up the slack on the back side of the chain. It really shouldnt have any effect on how the tension side of the chain sits. If it did, you would have jumped a tooth and the timing would be way off all the time. If your chain has stretched, that may be a different story.

relating back to the sprockets. Did this problem only appear after you replaced the tires? i would check to make sure your rear wheel is aligned properly. If its not, even off just a little will cause the chain to climb the side of the sprocket and may be the cause.

One other thing to cosider is the valves. If there are begining to run out of spec, you will develop hesitation, surging, and hard starts. it may explain some of the noise as well. Valves will loosen up, but also tighten up.

How many miles are on the bike?
