HELP! - sticky throttle question
Guys I need some help here. I have a '95 CBR F3 that needs some TLC. Im reasonably mechanicaly inclined but this is my first bike (love it!) and i need a little direction.
Several months ago I came back from a biz trip and the bike was on its side. I know, if I could ever find the creep id go medieval on his ***! But it was an apartment parking lot and Id been in CA for over a week so no such luck. The bike seemed fine and started up okay after I checked fluids.
The problem is the throttle sticks. It operates, but doesnt return to idle when released and is more difficult to move. I thought it might be an easy fix until I took it apart last weekend, been too cold to ride here in MN. The handle bar appears to be bent from being on its side and the throttle assembly doesnt seat properly when screwed back together.
I can't get the throttle cables loose to take it off the assembly, how tough should this be? It looks simple enough but when I tried with needle nose, it just wasnt coming. Looks like ill have to replace the handle bar too, anyone have experience here? I have a honda shop manual thats not much help...
Any idea what a stealership would charge (or know anyone in the twin cities willing to moonlight??)?

RE: HELP! - sticky throttle question
I Have the exact same problem, and mine has a bent handle bar which applys to much pressure on the inside of the throttle tube. Fix - remove the handle bar and try to bend it straight, withmine because I couldn't get it straight enough I have to replace it. It is pretty labor intensive so be prepared [sm=signs003.gif]

RE: HELP! - sticky throttle question
Sorry to hear about your luck mccannf3. Any tips for removing the throttle cables? I agree with your diagnoses but i was having trouble removing the throttle assy. Not sure if you looked, but ebay has handle bars for $75 from Cycle Therapy in Ohio.
How tough is it to remove the bar? Any special precautions or tools?
