Help for cbr300 starting problem
Hi folks am very new to bikes. Had left unattended for a couple of weeks so normally start often if I'm not riding. But I went to start and it wouldn't. Bump started no worries. But intially thought it was a flat battery or buggered battery. Thought weird cause I haven't even done 300kms on it.
To my suprise after charging it still did not start. I just get a constant ticking noise (or the wah noise when you first turn it on and the light comes on)coming from the relays and am unsure what relays they are. Help for a new person pleeeeease as the weather here is beautiful!!

Could be dead battery beyond repair with charging. Do following tests:
1. battery voltage with everything OFF, volts = ??
2. battery voltage with key ON, start/stop = RUN, volts = ??
3. battery voltage while pushing START button, volts = ? ?

I don't have anything to test it with
If you are telling us that it will bump start fine, but when you hit the start button it just clicks, then there's a problem with the battery.
Use a PROPER battery charger to charge it up (not a trickle charger) and report back.
If you can't do that - take it to a mechanic.

You want smart multi-stage charger. These usually have an initial desulfating stage to recover deeply discharge batteries. Also long-term storage mode where it only charges to 95%. Then lets battery sit and self-discharge to 85% or so. Then pulse-charges it back up to 95%. Much, much better for battery-life than trickle/tender chargers that max-out battery at 100% all the time. Fry it for sure!

What Danny said - multistage. I particularly like the noco Genius range.
If you have a car as well, buy a car-sized charger with at least 5A capacity - it will work just as well on your bike.
