Default Helmet repair

The black trim that goes around the opening of my helmet is peeling. Looks like whatever glue they used wore off. I tried using some epoxy adhesive i found laying around the house but it didn't hold.

Any suggestions on what to use?

Get a new one, even if it is a cheaper one(under $100). They are still Snell and D.O.T. approved.

Default Hmmm....

When I saw this thread I thought "Great; I have this problem too. Now I'll find out what the fix is." So, I couldn't wait to click on it.

Alas and alack, no.

Still, it's early days. Time yet for the world's leading authority on the subject of adhesivology to log in and leap over tall buildings to the rescue.

Waddya mean there's no such word. Of course there is! Would I lie to you?

Anyway Superglue (another big word!) ain't so super either, as it doesn't work in this case.

I have an Arai and, without touching the main helmet shell, I managed to pop-rivet either end of the chin-piece (don't dispute this word or men in ski-masks will visit your home!) onto another plastic insert inside the helmet.

The front of the chin-piece still droops down (story of my life...don't even go there) but the rivets mean the chin-piece can't fly off to Oz....or Kansas....or wherever it is that chin-pieces call home.

Something about the story of his life getting pop riveted in Kansas by some men in ski-masks with droopy chin pieces?

+1. I'm willing to bet your helmet is 5+ years old. A good rule of thumb is to replace every 5 years regardless of how new it may look.

When i first clicked on this i was thinking to myself Is this guy really gonna try to repair his helmet?

Then i saw it was a somewhat simple fix. I was thinking like a crack in it from going down or dropping it. lol
