Just a quick question as we seem to have some guys who know their stuff. I want to route my exhaust upwards in a similar fashion to this.

But not in such a ugly way, I might photoshop something. Whats the best way to gain some backpressure? Whats the effects/symtoms of to much back pressure?

Ran it a few times. unbolted the factory can and ran my best time of the night.. not sure if it was the weight loss of the can or it actually gained a pony or 2... take it FWIW
well thats different, at the drag stripe its ***** to the wall, WOT, and you will see a improvement there with a straight pipe. On the street tho you arent at WOT often at all, mostly going from idle to 5k and occasionally romps into the higher rpms. Yea, yea I know some of you can not ride w/o banging off the rev limiter with each and every gear change, and well, we'll leave it at that lol.

Now about the valve warping thing, thats carries over from running open manifolds and shortie headers on cars. Too short a 'header' or no header can n will warp valves. But I seriously doubt by just removing the can will warp em on our bikes. The headers are plenty long enough.

But I do believe bike do run better with cans on em, if not AMA and MotoGP would run w/o cans.

Then again, maybe, just maybe ppl will learn it isnt always about more power or bigger is better, but that having the right balance of torque and hp with handling and a skilled rider driver are what is key

itll only take a coupla minutes and it opened up whole worlds conceptually for me of what a fella with some powertoolz can do if hes inspired.
That's one sick build... I'd love to hear how it sounds!

i found the guys site somewhere las night where he wrote about the muffler design-
he sort of joked that it was more brutal sounding than he was goin for.
looks better than it works.
but it sure looks damn-cool!!
seein all that aluminum makes me worry less about the bodywork im building- stressed for weight at every extra rivet or coat of epoxy -haha
i bet it rides like a freight train!
a lazer powered future train carrying an industrial dance party of cyber-punk ninjas .

I would agree with a possible mid range/throttle response loss, but like I said. It was at the strip and wouldnt even matter. And as far as a can in AMA/MGP; I would say it has to do with noise regulations than maximum powah!! I've seen quite a few MGP bikes running can-less and megaphone looking things in the space the can usually occupies...

That is all
