Gas Tank cap interchange, and ignition switch
Hello all,
First time poster and member
I have just purchased a 1992 CBR1000F. I used to own a 1989 30 years ago and now find myself buying one again which is exciting.
this one has been in a shed for 4 or more years, not in the best condition but all there to work on.
It must have been stacked over the years as the gas tank does not match the body and gas tank cap has had the key lock damaged so I need to buy another cap and want to know if later models fit?
as I cannot find any online for 1993 and older. Also the key is missing from ignition. I know it sounds like a stolen bike but its not I checked. The owner died years ago, the son has had it but never rode it and lost the keys
so are the ignition lock interchangeable also.
I will take some pictures and post in the new members section as well.
no doubt over the restoration I will have some things to post and ask

This helped me understand how to remove and clean the lock. Pretty much exactly the same gas cap on ST1300's, except we don't have that plastic insert, spring and plug. I'd suggest to anybody else taking their gas cap apart to use a good sized box to work in to keep springs and screws from escaping and make an easy clean up.
