Default Gas cap lock

Hey all, I just received a new tank for my '94 CBR 900rr, it's used but in good condition. The person who sold it to me left the old gas cap on it, closed, locked, and didn't send a key to open it. I'm wondering, aside from drilling out the lock (and getting shavings in the tank) does anyone know how to remove the cap? I unbolted it, but all that does is let the edging loose, the middle is still connected to the fill hole. Any help? Thanks!

I had the same problem with a tank I bought for an F2. I drilled it out then used a screwdriver to twist the lock open. You dont need to drill all the way through just deep enough to get through the tumblers. I didnt get any shaveings in the tank.

Another cheap alternative is a locksmith. Took them a day but $15 bucks later I had a key that opened the lock. Then you can sell that sucker and possibly make some cash back.
