Fuel pump won't prime, headlight won't come on

Fuel pump won't prime, headlight won't come on
I rebuilt my fuel pump and now it won't prime I hope it directly up to a 12 volt battery and it does spin so I know that it works I checked the fuses and the relays are good any help would be much appreciated
