fuel pump rig
ok, long story short. 87 cbr 1000f, bad fuel pump. good idea or bad?:::
If the pump is the leak by it ( completely remove it electric connections disconnected, and install a hose from the petcock to the carbs )
then try to start the bike if it runs and will accellerate without stalling you probally can go without the pump, you just have to make sure
that you shut the petcock off and go to run a few minutes before driving it ( it may be a little harder to start without the pump ). If this
works you can use your bike until you can find a replacement pump at a good price on ebay or a local breakers (or not so local)
or just leave it out and ride it if it works, and don't worry about it till you can score a pump at a great price. This is IMHO and how I
WOULD attack it but not everybody does things the same. So its just one of many ways to do this, but the cheapest way I would try.
Also chk and see if any of the other Honda models use the same pump or one with simular specs. Sometimes other model pumps
can be had for a better price than one for your model, and are the same or would work if the same spec
(may need a couple of connector end plug changes) for your app. Just a few suggestions, and Good Luck.
this was left by another member but it seems like it might work. but since im new to the bike world, i thought i would ask here before doing something that could mess my bike up.
