Default fuel pump ques..

Alright have a question about the fuel pump/filter.. Well got a 97cbr 600 and I noticed when i was taking everything apart i dont have a fuel filter?? My fuel pump only has two hose's, one to the pet ****, and the other to the carbs, but no filter.Isn't the filter suppost to be in the middle of the carb's and the pump? My pump dont have a thrid post for another hose, just two..
....Well thanks for reading about my problems lol, and any answer to come in the future.

Yes, there is suppose to be an inline filter between the petcock and the intake of the fuel pump. There is a certain type of filter too, so dont get one of those cheap clear filters for $1. They are too small and will constrict the flow of fuel to the pump. The filter from Honda can be expensive but you can get an aftermarket filter that is the exact same thing.

well been trying to figure out the hose's on the fuel pump.. what are they? I know one has the fuel filter then leads up to the tank, and the other hose leads to the carb's, but what is the other small hose for. Is it a breather or vacuum, and why does mine only have two instead of three?

the small hose coming out of the back of the pump is an overboarddrain line incase the pump fails and starts leaking. route it to the bottom of the bike.

its simple, one line into the pump from the tank, one line out to the carbs.

no third line neccesary, only the RRR's had the third hose that dumps fuel into the exhaust, afterburner style.

Quite a few bikes do not have a filter inline from the factory. Its a good idea to install one, but as I said, a lot of them didnt. I'm not sure if this is because there is an internalscreen inside the tank. If you pull your petcock off, there will be a tall screen there.this acts as a fuel filter to some extent.
