Default Front Sprocket Help

I ordered a set of JT steel sprockets, and the front one has slightly wider tines than the old one. I could get it on with a little tapping, but don't want to damage anything so I thought I'd get some advice.
My bike is an '88 F1 and the site i bought from said it fit.

Have a cross-country road trip in a few days, appreciate the help.

The number of teeth on the driveshaft and the sprocket are the same, just a slightly different shape. The teeth on the sprocket are a tiny bit more shallow and wider.
Should it be very tight fit?
